Description
Perched atop a cliff at the edge of the Caribbean Sea is Scotch on the Rocks, an endearing turquoise villa just minutes from the heart of Ocho Rios. Although the villa sits upon a rock, all of the private ocean swimming areas have cozy, shallow, sandy bottoms—perfect for children. Cool off in the shade of the white gazebo at the end of the dock, with nothing to look at but miles of ocean waters and tiny windsurfers in the distance.
Stone steps lead from the main house down a slope to a private cove and a fabulous crystal clear bay. Kayaks and snorkeling gear are included. Or you might opt for a quick dip in the swimming pool. Wi-Fi is available on the main floor. Full staff is provided. If you feel like spending your day outdoors, the staff will gladly set up seats on the seaside deck and bring out your lunch.
The decor at Scotch on the Rocks features Victorian fretwork and warm mahogany floors that add classic charm, while Italian travertine reflects the recent renovations. The interior design is a tasteful, yet eclectic mix of high tech amenities and Jamaican/English antiques. The comfy verandah overlooking the vast sea is the ideal setting to share a laugh.
The five stately bedrooms at “Scotchie” accommodate up to ten guests. Dark wooden accents add warmth to the pristine, plush furniture. Each bedroom includes en-suite bathroom, TV with DVD player and air conditioning. The calm sea views are simply breathtaking.
The grounds at Scotch on the Rocks feature lush tropical gardens where bougainvillea and orchids are often in bloom. Built by the Scottish Lord, The Earl of Mansfield, the property currently belongs to members of the Red Stripe Beer family. Whether you decide to go for a day trip to nearby Dunn’s River Falls or the infamous James Bond Beach, you will surely enjoy the feeling of returning home to unwind in this unique piece of Jamaican history.
