The diplomatic relationship between Colombia and Jamaica dates from February 24, 1965. The historical relations date back to colonial times, when Simón Bolívar wrote in Kingston, then a British colony, the famous “Letter from Jamaica” (concluded on September 6 1815).
This relationship with Jamaica has been characterized by the closeness of our coasts in the Caribbean Sea. In 1994, the Commission Colombo-Jamaican neighborhood and its functions have been defined in terms of “an advisory and consultative body of the two governments for the development and strengthening of bilateral relations and the formulation and implementation of programs created cooperation short, medium and long term between the two countries. “
